The founding father of modern racing buggies.
The Optima Mid is remembered for its brilliant debut at the 2nd Electric Off-Road World Championship in England in 1987, where the prototype took 5 of the 10 qualifiers in the A-Main final and finished second.
The Optima chassis design with the central position of the engine and running gear grew in popularity and became the basis for modern racing buggies. It is this Optima Mid that will play like the 10th vintage series model of Kyosho. . The main chassis is made of 6016T6 aluminum alloy which guarantees great rigidity.
Every component of the car has been upgraded to match a modern power system, such as 48-step gearing for improved efficiency and precise gear ratio settings.
The recreated Optima Mid also features adjustable belt tension using a tensioner that was not available at the time, ultimately achieving a smooth ride with minimal loss. In addition, equipment from the Turbo Optima Mid has also been incorporated into this model, such as FRP front and rear shock absorbers and a countersunk main frame. The bold shape of the original Optima Mid body design is faithfully reproduced in line with the popular vintage series. Experience the driving spirit of the Optima Mid incorporating cutting-edge mechanics from the past that can't be matched by anything today.

āA wide range of optional parts are available for adjustments and upgrades. More than just a recreation of the 1980 original, this model can be enjoyed like any other modern high-performance equivalent.
The basic design follows the 1987 Optima Mid. As the name suggests, the layout allows for central engine mounting and optimized driving performance by centrally locating heavy components in the chassis.
The 6061T6 aluminum alloy main chassis strikes an excellent balance between rigidity and impact resistance, and uses hex screws with countersunk holes for a flat chassis bottom.
The front and rear shocks have been upgraded from stock aluminum to FRP similar to Turbo Optima Mid spec.
Equipped with gold anodized oil shock absorbers that resemble the pressure shock absorbers that dominated the era. Quadrant adjustment allows easy vehicle height adjustment for precise chassis setup.
Added mounting holes at the end of the stabilizer to the front suspension arms. Material quality has been optimized to increase strength and driving stability.
Belt tension can be adjusted via the newly fitted belt tensioner, which also improves driving efficiency and reduces power loss.
The belt cover has been upgraded from the previous vacuum formed part to a molded resin part that effectively protects the drive belt from dirt and dust. The new belt cover is easier to mount and provides more complete protection against dust.
The 48-step spur gear is equipped with a slipper clutch that protects the gear from shock while driving.
Includes stickers that recreate the design used in the original model. Masking sheet is also included, and the bodywork can be finished with a single coat of a single color.
